What are Engineered Wood Products?

Engineered wood includes a range of derivative wood products which are manufactured by binding together wood strands, particles and fibers with adhesives/resins to form composite materials. These products are engineered to precise design specifications which are tested to meet New Zealand building code standards.

Typically, engineered wood products are made from the same hardwoods and softwoods used to manufacture timber.

Our engineered wood range includes the Hyne IBeam, 17C Beam and Edgebeams. These engineered wood products are stronger, stiffer and lighter than traditional timber. Because they are manufactured under strict controls, all products are consistent in quality, size and weight. Supply is consistent and they are available in lengths up to 11.4 meters. They provide an excellent alternative to traditional sawn timbers at a time when wides are in short supply, have quality control issues and are no longer available in the really long lengths.
